Summer Reading and Virtual Summer Storytime Sign-up Coming Soon!

Summer Reading  and Summer Storytime Sign-up will be starting the first week in June!  There is 2 ways to sign-up; on our website or in person.   There will be a few “On the Lawn” activities through out the summer which include crafts, animals, Story Stroll and more!

Summer Reading will be Grab and Go Bags this year.

Summer Storytime with be Virtual Storytime with Grab and Go Craft bags.  Storytime with be posted every Wednesday morning at 10am on our Library Facebook.

Summer Reading Kick-Off is June 19 at 10 am with a Color Splash!  More information will be posted next week.

Be on the look out for a few additional programs that will be “On the Lawn.”   Let’s Draw Together! will be on the lawn under a tree at the library.  This is a self-directed activity that will have a backyard animals drawing steps and facts about the animal.  Paws to Read will be on the lawn through out the summer.  Children can schedule a time to come and read to a therapy dog.  More information to come next week on both these programs!

Looking for a Virtual Program?  Our Adventure Reading Buddy Virtual Program is that.  Come adpot a Reading Buddy and take him home for our summer adventure.  He loves to be read to and to explore new places.  More Information on this next week!

 

Virtual Storytime on FB

Ms. Mary Ellen invites our littlest readers to enjoy Virtual Storytime on the Library’s Facebook page beginning May 12 and every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.  Stories are appropriate for “lapsit” sharing with children ages 6 months to 36 months.  Begin the Wednesday morning Storytime habit with us!  For more information call the Library at 585-335-6720.

Library Workers Day Apr 14

Dansville Public Library will celebrate Library Worker & Assistants Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 beginning at 10 a.m.   Stop in for a moment or two,  say “hello” to our Staff members, and enjoy a small celebratory treat at the Main Desk.

We are saying a big “thank you” this day to all of those who help our visitors at the desk and on the telephone and email.  These are the people who do the work of getting you what you need and help you navigate the internet scene.  Honored are long-time volunteer Carol Welcher, Library Clerks Linda Chapman and Lacey Keagy, Library page Julie Guzzardi, Children’s Services Coordinator Mary Ellen Arena, part time clerks, Donna Chasey and Penny Leven.  We’re also grateful to those working behind the scenes, Board Treasurer Sue Colegrove and Building Manager, Jim “Drew” Goodell.

Our thanks to the Library Board of Trustees, also volunteers, who support all of us and all of you:  President Rhea Walker, Vice President Sherrie Reilly, Secretary Mary Ann Holden, Trustee Bill Forsythe, and Trustee Mary Harrington.

April 3 Morning Mystery Invite

On Saturday April 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Library continues Main Street’s celebration of the April “First Friday” event by providing a delightful and challenging “Morning Mystery” for children.  Just by following all the clues provided, out on the Library lawn, children can find the solution to the Mystery!

Families are invited to come, social distancing and masked if there is a “crowd” and enjoy.  Stop in at 10 a.m. and enjoy!

Spy on the Story Stroll

The March Story Stroll book is “How to Catch A Leprechaun” by Adam Wallace.  As you stroll around, you won’t need boots right now!  Take a look!  See if you can spy a very special object in the pictures.  It could be coins, perhaps a gold shoe buckle, a leprechaun or other fun objects.  Don’t miss your chance to  “catch a leprechaun” before it disappears!

Gardening “Talks” with Petra

Dansville Public Library is sharing in a delightful gardening program with presenter, Petra Page-Mann, available the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m.  Petra Page-Mann is the co-owner of Fruition Seeds in Naples, New York. Fruition Seeds makes organic gardening easier and more successful by regionally adapting certified organic vegetable, herb, and flower seed to thrive in the Northeast.

Story Stroll Features Hearts!

Valentine’s Day is on the way!  Ms. Mary Ellen invites children and families to enjoy the next Story Stroll on the Library Lawn which posted February 8th.  The featured book is The Day It Rained Hearts by author Felicia Bond.

Parents and Grandparents: You’ll want to help your children with the special activity, find the hearts!  If you haven’t Strolled the Story, now is the time to come enjoy!  Wear your boots, some of the panels might be in the snow!  Stop by soon!
