Please help us by taking this short questionnaire! Let us know your thoughts and perceptions about the Dansville Public Library over the past year! We continually work to provide great materials and services, and your feedback is valuable in helping us determine how well we are meeting our community’s needs.

Your answers are anonymous and will be used to help improve future library services.

A paper version of this questionnaire is also available in the Library, at the circulation desk. Please feel free to complete it online or to come in and complete it in-person.

The questionnaire will close on Saturday, December 31, 2022. A summary of the questionnaire results will be available online and in the Library by the end of January 2023.

We want to congratulate Taylor   for completing the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program! Taylor  gained many essential early Literacy Skills by completing this program. We are so proud of her!
A nationwide program, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages parents to read aloud to their children.
At certain reading, milestones, and when they complete the program, children receive rewards.

If you do not already have an OWWL library card and you either: Are a full- or part-time resident of Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming, or Livingston Counties in New York State; attend school in these counties; or pay property taxes in these counties, you can start your request for an OWWL library card online, by submitting the Request a Library Card Form.

The Dansville Public Library has a full-time Library Clerk position open.

Dansville Public Library is seeking an organized and detail-oriented person to serve the public at the circulation desk and process new additions to the library collection. The work of a Library Clerk involves the performance of routine library clerical duties necessary for the proper organization and distribution of library materials. Prospective candidates should enjoy a team-oriented work environment, as well as interacting with the public to deliver high quality customer service with tact, courtesy, and
professionalism to all users of the library.

The Dansville Public Library, as a school district public library, is part of Livingston County Civil Service. The Library Clerk position is a competitive civil service position. A successful candidate must take the Livingston County Civil Service Library Clerk examination and be named to the eligible candidates list.

Recycle Printer Cartridges, Old Phones, and More at the Library!

Dansville Public Library has a box just inside our main entrance for used/empty and new/unused printer cartridges, cell phones/smartphones, old laptop computers and tablets. Please remove user and password information on all phones and tablets. Hard drives will be removed from all laptops. Please include AC adapters and cords when possible. Dansville Public Library makes a profit on the sale of these items!

Just drop the items in our collection box!

2022-23 Budget Vote & Trustee Election

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022 Dansville Public Library’s budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year was approved by voters. The proposed tax levy of $578,739 received 66 YES votes and 10 NO votes. The new budget will take effect July 1, 2022.

Incumbent trustee Sherrie Reilly received 54 votes and was reelected to a five-year term, with trustee candidate Emily Wolf receiving 24 votes.

The Dansville Public Library Board of Trustees and the Staff would like the thank the community for their continued support!

 

We are Hiring!

The Dansville Public Library has an open Library Page position.

The Part-time Page is a 12-15 hour-per-week position. Applicants should be personable, enjoy working with people of all ages, have an interest in books and reading, and have excellent written, verbal, & computer skills. Needs to be able to stand for long periods, and to reach and bend. Must have flexible schedule, with readiness to work evenings and weekends.
