A Public Vote for one Trustee Position will be held May 7, 2024 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm at Dansville Public Library, 200 Main Street, for qualified voters of the Dansville School District.
Dansville Public Library is not seeking an increase to the tax levy for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, and a financial proposition will not be included on this year’s ballot.
One seat is open on the Dansville Public Library Board of Trustees. The candidate elected to the Board during the May 7, 2024 Board Election will serve a five-year term. On the election ballot, there will be one candidate named and the option to write-in an alternate candidate.
Meet the candidate, Suzanne Boor:
Since August of 2023, I have been serving as a Trustee on the Dansville Public Library Board to complete the unfinished term of a prior Trustee. During this time I have gained some experience and learned much from my fellow trustees, the Trustee Handbooks and online resources through Trustee Education Opportunities put together by OWWL. At this time, I ask to be elected to serve a full five year term. I am a lifelong village resident and patron of the Dansville Library, as well as a longstanding “Friend of the Library.” Now as a retiree, I have the time to devote in my interests in being of service to my community, and the Library in particular. I retired from SUNY Geneseo as Director of Donor Relations, where I was able to hone my organizational, communication and interpersonal skills which I would bring to the Trustee role. I am extremely proud of our beautiful Library, and have engaged my children and grandchildren in programs through this fine institution. I would be excited to contribute my strengths and background to the Library so that community members continue to enjoy the wonderful opportunities and experiences for which I will be eternally grateful. On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, voters of the Dansville Central School District will elect one individual to fill one trustee seat on the Dansville Public Library’s Board of Trustees. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall serve on the Dansville Public Library Board of Trustees for a five-year term, commencing on July 1, 2024.
Prospective candidates may request nominating petitions at the Dansville Public Library main desk, 200 Main St. Dansville, NY 14437.
Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified district voters and must be received by the Library Director not later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2023.

The full-time Library Clerk position is a competitive Civil Service position and will be filled in accordance with Civil Service requirements. Candidates must take the Livingston County Civil Service Library Clerk – OC #23-825 examination and be reachable when the eligible list is established.

Part-time Library Page is a 12-15 hour per week position. Applicants should be personable, enjoy working with people of all ages, have an interest in books and reading, and have excellent written, verbal, & computer skills. Applicants also need to be able to stand for long periods, to reach and bend, and must have a flexible schedule, with readiness to work evenings and weekends. Dansville Public Library seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative individual to join the library team as a full-time Library Assistant to serve as the library’s Youth Services Coordinator. 
The Youth Services Coordinator manages all aspects of Children’s Services, including programming, outreach, reference, and collection development. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, flexible, community-oriented person who is able to embrace change, has a strong customer service orientation, and a collaborative approach to library service.

The Dansville Public Library is looking for published local authors to participate in our upcoming Local Author Showcase. The showcase will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
The event is a celebration of local writing talent and is designed to give writers and readers in the area an opportunity to connect. Local authors will have the opportunity to promote their works, as well as sell and sign copies of their publications.
If you live in the Dansville area and have published fiction or non-fiction for children, teens, or adults, we want to hear from you. Self-published writers are also encouraged to apply. Space is limited.
