COVID 19 Dansville Library Update:
CONTINUING: the BOOK DROP is now LOCKED as recommended by other OWWL libraries and Pioneer Library System.
Please note: materials now have a due date of April 20 and NO additional fines added on any items overdue before this change.
Please “shelter” our library materials at your home during this state of emergency. Thank you for your assistance.
As with all efforts to “distance” and with the uncertainty about the “life span” of the virus, we locked the book drop to protect everyone as best we can. We have been sanitizing items, but are not certain this is enough.
For comments, please email DansvilleLibraryDirector@owwl.org as I will monitor my email from home.
Please be wise, shelter at home, and may you continue to be healthy.
from Terry Dearing, Librarian and Board of Trustees

Starting Saturday, March 14, 2020, the Pioneer Library System (PLS) will suspend the option of placing holds in OWWL. This means neither library staff nor patrons will be able to order library materials from another member library. Additionally, PLS will suspend delivery services which will result in no movement of library materials between member libraries until further notice. PLS will reevaluate this stoppage of service on Friday, April 3, 2020, with guidance from local and state government agencies.
This plan of action was made with the health and safety of our system staff, member libraries staff, and library communities as a top priority. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we respond to rapidly growing COVID-19 concerns.
To read more about your Library’s ongoing response to COVID-19 please check back here or on facebook.
Dansville Public Library friends and visitors: It was brought to our attention Friday evening there is a post stating all libraries in New York are closed. The post is referring to libraries in NEW YORK CITY.
However, at present, Dansville Public Library is still operating normal hours!! Please watch this page for updates over the next few weeks.
We are practicing the best disinfecting procedures possible. We are washing our hands and disinfecting surfaces. BUT — You can help us! Wash your hands. Especially after sneezes and restroom visits. If you are ill, please don’t come in. Please ask for wipes before you use the computer…remember the arms of the chairs. We have tissues and hand sanitizer available at the desk. If any one of us is sick, we will stay home.
We are practicing “safe distancing,” not hugging, not shaking hands. The second set of entry doors remain open to eliminate touching some handles and surfaces. Toys in the Toy Room will be limited or perhaps removed. If we have toys, please bring them to the main desk so they might be disinfected before the next user.
As the virus moves and further interrupts our lives, hours may be curtailed, requested books may be limited. We are in this together, and we will continue to be “here” for you in the ways that are best for everyone concerned! For questions or concerns, please call the Library at 585-335-6720.
