Our current artist-in-residence is Brigitte VanRhyn. Brigitte grew up in Morocco, began her art career with early drawing lessons. She joined the local painting group at the invitation of Betty Stevens. Landscapes are her specialty. Included in her exhibit are selections from the photographic works of son, Alain VanRhyn. Cathy Granita Paintings Now On Exhibit
Welcome our newest artist in the Holden Gallery! Cathy Granita is a local resident, painting sporadically for several years. Recently retired as a mental health therapist, she learned about a painting group near her home. Now her hours at the easel have increased, & we can enjoy her tremendous talent. Howard Perry At Holden Gallery In August
Our newest Holden Gallery "resident" is Dansville native, Howard Perry. Howard’s art work will be on display for the next 3-4 weeks. He’s come a very long way since the 8 year old with paint-by-number! When he discovered the joy of creating art, he began working oil on canvas in the early 1990s. New Artist Featured in the Holden Gallery
Former Trustee, Bill Beierschmitt, is the featured artist in the Holden Gallery for the next month. Bill uses both water color and oils. Often, he makes creative use of just the palette knife. Stop in to see his paintings, and be sure to sign the Guest Book. Bill’s works are appearing as part of the Livingston Rotating Art Show begun in 2012.
37th Annual Used Book Sale Begins Monday
It’s that time of year when flowers bloom and the Library holds its Annual Used Book Sale! Thousands of items in a beautiful location. Begins Monday May 13 at 10 AM. Part of the Dogwood Festival.
Join Us For Violin Music at Noon
Richard Balkin returns with a noontime violin program featuring the music of Bela Bartok on May 15 at noon. Funded by NYS Arts Council & a Decentralization Grant via Genesee Valley Arts Council. This is Mr Balkin’s 7th Library presentation of Violin at Noon & a Dogwood Festival Event.
Public Vote on Budget and Trustee
Vote on the Library budget and one trustee position will take place at the Library on Monday, May 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. A public hearing on the budget will precede the vote. For more information please call Director Terry Dearing at 585-335-6720.
Artist Open House Scheduled
Visit Paintings by L. Mert Wager and meet the artist on May 4, 2013 at the Library from noon until 4 PM. In addition to the art already on display, Mr. Wager will have several original works on hand for visitors. Talk to the artist, visit the Holden Gallery, and learn about what inspires his amazing creations. This is the FINAL DAY of the show.
