The Friends of the Library presents "Livingston County’s Surprising Wine Story" with retired Geneseo Professor, Gary Cox, a local winegrower. The program will be held Tuesday September 22 at 6:30 p.m. The presentation offers a history of 2 wineries still in business today, O-Neh-Da and Deer Run; both survived prohibition. Light refreshments and wine tastings will be available.

The Friends of the Dansville Public Library raised $1440 from their Summer Raffle. The drawing was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, just before closing. These proceeds will be contributed to the Library to purchase two new computers to replace units nearly 8 years old. Congratulations to the winners: Marilyn Robin received the L. Mert Wager art print and goodie basket, & Gerri Long received the handmade afghan and goodie basket.

Dansville Public Library’s 39th Annual Used Book Sale held during Dogwood Week experienced another success. Total income received was $3486.90. The Book Sale is conducted by many volunteers and members of Friends of the Library. Donations are accepted throughout the year. Please: NO encyclopedias, Readers Digest Condensed Books or magazines. The Library’s 39th Annual Used Book Sale begins Monday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. Many good reads are available at reasonable prices. Special pricing begins on Thursday. The Library received 54 food items in lieu of fines during National Library Week and the "Food For Fines" effort. This is the first year Dansville Public Library has participated in this event. During the week, three patrons were able to clear their records and restore their library privileges.

Our current artist in the Holden Gallery is Canaseraga native, Renee Coombs. Renee presents her unique view of the world in a whimsical, bold and colorful way. This show entitled "Sugar and Spice" has been created specifically for the library and the holiday season ahead. Stop in, enjoy. Be sure to sign the guest book and include your comments.

This October our Holden Gallery art show is Photography by Joseph Shearer. Joseph recently graduated from Allendale Columbia. He coupled his digital photography experiences with a year as an exchange student in Finland. The resulting photos are a "must see", so stop in soon, enjoy, and be sure to sign the guest book with comments for Joseph.

The Holden Gallery features works of painter L. Mert Wager for the month of September. His creative powers bring alive the beauty of nature, the power of living creatures, and the intrigue of history. Visitors are invited to sign the Guest Book and comments are welcome.

Dansville Public Library welcomes visitors to this year’s Annual New York State Festival of Balloons. The Library will participate by offering a variety of crafts and games to children and families on Saturday, August 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come and enjoy!
