Libraries Rock! Report
Summer Reading Club is over, and as the children prepare to head back to school, Dansville Public Library can report a successful Summer Reading program. A total of 70 children signed up and 23 were regular readers who completed 11,250 minutes of reading! Participants were in kindergarten through sixth grade. This year’s program was led by Mrs. Emily Wolf, librarian/media specialist at Dansville Central School.
The program began June 26, running through August 14 and kids enjoyed not just reading but rock painting, hooping, rockets, a visit from a therapy horse, spin art, and numerous stories. Mrs. Wolf had 6 helpers throughout the weeks, and total attendance was 378.
Spin Art Fun Aug 14
The finale of “Libraries Rock!” Reading Club on August 14 at 1:00 p.m. is also an invitation for ALL children to enjoy a very creative craft, “Spin Art” with Geoff Clough — a moving, vinyl “canvas” for creating a child’s own unique work of art! Vinyl long playing “records” are spun on turn tables, and each child adds his her own paint selections to form a one-of-a-kind painting. Please come — you don’t have to be signed up for Summer Reading to attend. This special event is co-sponsored by Mill Creek Optical.
