Pioneer Library System, headquartered in Canandaigua NY, has coordinated with the University of Rochester for a unique opportunity to learn more about what the college search and application process will look like during COVID-19.
An Admissions Counselor from the U of R will host an online information session on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 6:15 p.m. Attendance is free and open to all. The link for registration at the session is —https://owwl.libcal.com/event/7318723
Teens, young adults, and families in the 4-county Pioneer Library System will benefit as they learn about what college search resources are currently available for incoming students.
The Library announces the NEW “Story Stroll” has been placed on the front lawn and on the fence along Main Street — just in time for Winter in the Village. The most recent “Stroll” is The Gingerbread Man, illustrated by Karen Schmidt.
Long a favorite of our youngest readers, this folk tale brings back memories of holidays and gingerbread cookies and the delights of childhood. Ms. Mary Ellen urges everyone to catch him if you can! The Gingerbread Man‘s visit will come to an end on December 14.
The Library is continuing with modified open hours.
For our readers and visitors who can’t stop in before 5 p.m., please note following: Monday hours are extended to 6 p.m. Saturday hours are now 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors are reminded to wear a mask, use hand sanitizer when you enter, and be sure to maintain the recommended physical distance from others.
Are you staying close to home? We want to remind you we offer curbside pickup or home delivery upon request. We’re here for YOU! Call us at 585-335-6720 to arrange modified services.

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. visit DPL’s “Online Storytime” beginning November 10! Children can read along with Ms. Mary Ellen. Stories repeat for 2 weeks when a new story set will be featured.
Those children enjoying “Online Storytime” can sign up for a monthly Storytime Craft Bag. Call the Library at 585-335-6720 to register your child. Crafts will be coordinated with the books being read online. The first author to be featured is Laura Numeroff, and stories by Lois Ehlert will follow. Reminder: children must be registered to receive a craft bag.
The first featured author is Laura Numeroff. The following two weeks bring stories by Lois Ehlert. For more information, call the Library at 585-335-6720.
Dansville Public Library is now open for business. If you prefer pick-up service, please continue to call with your requests for books, videos, audio books and magazines at 585-335-6720. Back issues of our newspapers can also be borrowed. And if you need home delivery, we can do that as well.
When visiting the Library, stop at the hand sanitizing station, and pause to make sure your face mask covers nose AND mouth. Maintain social distancing. You are welcome to browse the shelves to pick out your own materials to borrow. One-to-one help may be limited as we need to keep you safe — please allow us to point rather than touch your computer or the keyboard on your device when you need our assistance. One person per table for reading or study is permitted; used Library books, papers, magazines can be left on the table when you finish reading.
Staff members will do your copies and send your FAXes. This limits the time spent for required sanitizing of the machines. Restrooms are still off limits for the time being. Current modified hours of service are as follows: Monday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., AND Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For questions and concerns, please call Director Terry Dearing at 585-335-6720 or send an email to dansvillelibrarydirector@owwl.org
Two computers only are in use, and you might prefer to call ahead to schedule your time on the machine. We need to limit all visits to about an hour. Children and families are welcome, and please accompany any child for the immediate future. Room capacity in the Shepard building Children’s Library has to be limited due to lack of space. At any one time, one family group of 3 or more, or 2 or 3 individuals who are not family/friends can be accommodated in the Children’s Library. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy.
The number of items you can borrow is still at a limit of 7 with the normal restrictions on the number of DVDs that can go home with you. Our Library System is now two deliveries per week but due to quarantine filling your requests is a bit slower than “normal”. Please ask us for help placing any items on hold. Thank you for your patience. Come visit soon!
