Ms. Brandy Olsheski has announced the start of the Fall Story Time programs at the Library. Ages 3 and up can register for 10 a.m. Wed "Read & Play" story time. Littlest new readers ages 6 months and up can register for "Baby’s Book Buddies" on Thurs at 10 a.m. The programs run until December 15. These Early Literacy Programs will help prepare your child for school, and bring them the love of stories and reading too. Ms. Brandy can assure you that great readers are ready for success! Children Are Reading and Learning @ the Library
Summer Reading Club and the Lions Discovery Workshops are keeping children reading and involved at Dansville Public Library. Summer Reading Club began on June 26. Space is still available for those children who have yet to register. A few openings are still available in the Hip Hop Dance Workshop beginning August 8 for ages 8 and up.
For those interested in early literacy for our littlest new readers, Story Times are conducted Wed. and Thurs. mornings at 10 a.m. Call to register, or for more information, at 585-335-6720.
Lions Club Completes Its Promise to DPL Campaign
The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the Dansville Lions Club recently completed its pledge to the "Where Knowledge Grows" building expansion project. The funding includes the Lions’ sponsorship of the children’s "Lions Discovery Workshops" held every summer. Director Terry Dearing accepted the final five-year pledge payment of $5000, closing out the $25,000 commitment. Incoming Lions President Mike Cloonan arrived at the Library with check in hand accompanied by fellow Lions Club member, Barry Haywood.
Annual Used Book Sale Records Receipts
"The Annual Dogwood Week Used Book Sale was a resounding success," stated Director Terry Dearing. Income from the sale held the week of May 9, 2016 totaled $3707.60, an increase of $220 over 2015. The Library attributes the additional funds to excellent donations of adult nonfiction books, always in high demand. The sale is possible due to the assistance of more than 50 volunteers as well as the thoughtful donations from the community.
Fairy Houses Workshop Ahead
A special workshop for children ages 5 to 13 will be offered on Saturday, May 28th from 1-3 p.m.. Children will learn how to design magical "fairy house" dwellings by using a variety of natural materials. Spring is the ideal time to harvest craft materials from the outdoors and to add various craft items on hand to create these delightful homes for display. Come celebrate with us as Karen Cowley begins her retirement from the Library Friday afternoon April 29. Karen joined the Library Staff on September 27, 2005. After 10 years of excellent service to the Dansville community, we wish her all the best in this new phase of her life. Refreshments will be available 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Public LIbrary Annual Vote May 3
The annual vote on the Dansville Public Library budget 2016-17 & one Trustee position will be held Tues May 3 from noon to 8 p.m. Open to all eligible voters in the Dansville Central School District. Copies of the budget are available at the Library’s Main Desk.

Our newest artist in the Holden Gallery is a couple! Gary & Pat Quibell. Gary is inspired by wild life, particularly birds & large animals, while Pat likes to focus on scenery. Stop in soon to enjoy their delightful, colorful works, & be sure to sign the guest book when you visit.
Kids Crafts on Making Spaghetti Bridges
Join us for some awesome building on Saturday, March 26th from 1-3 p.m. Children will explore the field of engineering by making bridges using marshmallows and spaghetti as their primary building material. They will create different shapes and make a model bridge that can hold a surprising amount of weight. For children ages 6-12. Space is limited for this program.
